#2 The Red Planet by Robert A Heinlein audiobook review

July 22, 2009

Robert Heinlein is my favorite author, and I’ve never read this book. While waiting for my first audiobook to arrive from Simplyaudiobooks.com, I downloaded this book from iTunes.
This was the first commercial audiobook I’ve listened to and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the voice actors. Each character had a distinct voice eliminating the need to say “he said” or “said Bob” after dialogue.
This is a typical Heinlein tale. Two youths at a boarding school fight their tyrannical headmaster while saving the citizen’s of their Martian village in the process. If you are a fan of Heinlein’s early work, you’ll like this book too. It goes without saying that Heinlein is one of the best character developer and storytellers around.
Highly recommend this audiobook.
