Sex and the City Fans? Check Out the Lipstick Jungle Audio Book!

August 17, 2010

You may already be familiar with the Lipstick Jungle television show, but the audio book version is perfect to continue to enjoy this guilty pleasure when you are working out at the gym or on a road trip. In fact, if you have a hellish daily commute, this is the ideal chick lit audio book to get your mind off of the traffic!

Candace Bushnell is the popularly known author of Sex and the City, so any fans of the career women glamour and drama relating to New York City will also enjoy Lipstick Jungle. In this novel, the characters are somewhat older, much richer, and equally as endearing as the main characters of Sex and the City. Personally, this is one of my favorite choices in an audio book after having watched every single episode of Sex and the City on television to the point of embarrassment. I have completely exhausted that series, yet I was still left wanting more since Bushnell can spin an attractive and captivating tale for women.

Lipstick Jungle centers around three main characters, Victory, Wendy, and Nico, who are all on the top list of New York’s 50 Most Powerful Women. Of course, there is always more to the story than that, and you as the reader will get a complete glimpse into the complicated web of their professional and personal relationships. Bushnell provides the same fun of friends getting to know each other in Sex and the City with a slightly more mature aspect since these women have families, spouses, and their jobs at stake as they navigate their way through life.

Truth be told, this is a fun guilty pleasure, and I have to attest that it is the perfect distraction if you are slaving away on the treadmill at the gym. In the form of an audio book, I would call Lipstick Jungle “ear candy” since it is an enjoyable novel that will be difficult to tear yourself away from.
